rock scout ship [crab and shrimp cakes]

Last week, I spent two days attending the Game Developer’s Conference in San Francisco. I was fortunate enough to be sent on behalf of my company to experience the sights and sounds of GDC ’13. No booth duty, this time!

I don’t have many pictures to showcase because I pretty much forgot about taking photos. Oops! The photos are pretty poor quality since they were taken with my phone.

However, I did manage to score some swag (including a Teemo hat, finally) and attend a pretty spectacular party thanks to my lovely friend at Wargaming.

I have no idea what’s going on!

But, GDC isn’t about just partying and collecting swag around the expo hall; it’s about the developers!

GDC held the 15th Annual Independent Games Festival where indie developers were presented awards for visual design, game design, sound, technical design and more. One of my favorite PC games, FTL received two awards in the categories of “Excellence in Design” and the “Audience Award”.

But that’s not all! They also scored the award for “Best Debut” at the Game Developer’s Choice Awards.  Not a bad day for an indie studio, right?

And that’s why they deserve another recipe (but really, it’s because I like to play FTL)!

healthy globes [quinoa stuffed tomatoes]

I was testing out a build that relies on Cluster Arrow with Loaded for Bear for low MP runs. It was swell and dandy until I run into a guy with the following affix: Reflect Damage, Ouch. Hitting a mob that has Reflect Damage on with a high burst damage skill is pretty painful for a Demon Hunter with low mitigation and relatively high DPS.

Since I like the way “200k+ DPS” sounds, I’m not in the market for gear that significantly lowers my DPS in exchange for armor and all resistance  I’ve been trying to craft better gear to help boost both my mitigation and damage, but I haven’t been very lucky in that department:

ಠ_ಠ I’ll get trifecta gloves eventually!

I switched back to the build that uses Elemental Arrow with Ball Lightning. As much as I loved watching things explode in a fiery ball, Cluster Arrow wasn’t as effective as I thought it would be with my play style mainly because I’m incredibly reckless and I kept killing myself on Reflect mobs. I would always have to desperately run around looking for health globes after firing off Cluster Arrows.

Sure, there were TONS of health globes lying around earlier, but they were never there when I truly need them. To resolve this issue, I just decided to make my own Health Globes. They’re good and good for you! I mentioned this recipe briefly in my Q&A with Diablo III CM, Vaeflare (oh waaaat!?). More details on that later. It’s time to cook!
